Emily Fermor selcted to stand for the Lib Dems
Ex-student Emily Fermor has been selected to stand as the Liberal Democrats candidate for Maidstone and the Weald. Emily has been in touch with Invicta and sent us this message:
"I am delighted to have been selected by the Liberal Democrats as their Parliamentary Candidate to fight the next General Election in Maidstone and The Weald. I am honoured to have been selected to represent my home town. It's about time Maidstone had a local person representing them, and an Invicta girl at that!
As my former teachers will know, I've always been headstrong and determined. I will always look back at my time at school as some of the best years of my life. At Invicta I grew into an independent spirited young woman, and I have the excellent teachers to thank for that.
After Invicta I read a BA in History at Magdalen College, University of Oxford. I went on to work for the Lib Dems, campaigning in Maidstone and the on the EU Referendum for South East MEP Catherine Bearder. In May this year I successfully defeated the Conservatives to win Coxheath and Hunton Ward, whom I represent on Maidstone Borough Council. In my day job, I am a Public Affairs Consultant (more politics!) at international communications company, Bell Pottinger.”
Current students may remember Emily, as she was one of our inspirational guest speakers at the Invicta Awards Ceremony in July.
We are delighted with Emily’s success and wish her good luck.
