Summer Concert 2016
Mr Riley, Director of Music sent us this report:
“As Summer Concerts go this year’s was a veritable jamboree! With his customary attention to detail (combined with a healthy dose of zest) Mr Heaton had assembled an astonishingly eclectic programme, encompassing everything from 16th Century Tylman Susato to The Kaiser Chiefs and Simple Minds.
The opening number (Emily Lim’s arrangement of the classic samba number Mas Que Nada) set the capacity audience’s feet tapping collectively and every subsequent ensemble clearly plugged into this electrifying vibe, such was their energetic musicianship and evident excitement and joy in performing. Our growing number of house bands were especially polished, reflecting the dozens of hours of dedicated practice.
Although this was essentially an evening for our larger groups, a special mention should be made of Freja Scanlon and Charlotte Ridley, whose Violin and ‘Cello duet (with the strings) was warmly received.
We also had to say fond farewells to our Year 13 performers: Eleanor Bartram, Lucy Christmas, Charlotte Denby, Konrad Eke, Emily Hunter, Sarah Hunter and Chloe Palmer, and thanked them for their efforts and support during their time at Invicta.
With top-notch lighting and sound this was a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable evening – exhausting for those who organised it – but well worth the effort! Congratulations to all who performed or listened.”
Thank you again to Mr Heaton, supported by Mr Riley, who work so hard to make the musical experience at Invicta such a fantastic one.
