Year 7 students visit St Omer in France
On Friday, 24 June, Year 7 took part in the annual visit to France to carry out Geography fieldwork and to develop a better knowledge of the French language.
It was an early start, and the group were out of Eurotunnel and at Cite Europe just after opening time at 10am. The students assessed the type of shops and considered how the popularity of this shopping centre could cause problems. We then travelled to the small town of St Omer in order to see a typically French area, compare it with Maidstone and practice data collection techniques such as land use surveys and the index of decay charts.
Throughout the day the challenge was to build up an A-Z of French vocabulary; this was completed successfully too. Our Year 7 students all worked very efficiently so there was time to fit in some shopping too!
Thank you to Miss Dixon organising this field trip.
