Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualifying Expedition
Last weekend saw 80 Year 9 students embark on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh qualifying expedition, the culmination of all their hard work and training since September.
The 12 groups started out early on Saturday morning, from a variety of locations on the North Downs to walk to the overnight campsite. Next morning, Artemis group were the first up and were out of camp by 7.00am closely followed by the 7 Dwarfs and Little Mermaids. All of the groups successfully completed their routes with the Walking Dead finally making it to camp after a slight detour on Sunday. The assessors were impressed with the teamwork, camp skills and determination displayed by all of the groups. The girls now have their presentations to do to complete their awards.
Many thanks to the staff that have volunteered their time to support the training walks and weekend expeditions this year. A special big thank you to Mrs Smart, who gives so much of her time to supporting the students. Without her, they would not achieve such fantastic successes in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
