Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition
Over the weekend, the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh participants visited the North Down, to complete a practice expedition, walking with full rucksacks for two days, camping Saturday night and cooking all their meals. The weather was kind, staying dry while Sunday was extremely hot, particularly for the groups trekking up from Trottiscliffe to Meopham.
All of the groups managed to arrive at the camp on Saturday evening, although some did take a little longer than others to get there. We managed to lose the ‘Nemos‘ briefly! The ‘007’s’ were very appropriately elusive during the day. ‘Dora the Explorers’ definitely did a bit of extra exploring on route whilst the ‘Hobbits’, ’Walking Dead’, ‘Little Mermaids’ and ‘Incredibles’ were early into camp. All groups managed a relaxing game of cards followed by an energetic game of rounder’s.
All of the groups did well and are now busy finishing their remaining sections and brushing up on their camp skills in preparation for their assessed expedition in June.
Thank you to Miss Laxton, Miss Laming, Miss Poulter, Mrs Stoneham, Miss Grimsey and Mrs Pink for helping out during the weekend. Thank you also to Mrs Smart, for the time and effort she puts into making the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme such a success at Invicta
