Year 6 Transition Workshop - Drama
On Thursday, 28 April 2016, Mrs Gooden led a group of 21 excited Year 6 (soon to be future Year 7 Invicta) students in a Drama Workshop. The workshop centred around the famous book, film and now West-End musical, Matilda, which proved to be a big hit with the students! The first activity involved the students working in small groups to analyse and portray certain characters from Matilda in a freeze frame, using body language and facial expression to embody the characters. They then recited a short sentence of text each from the script, using tone of voice and pitch to develop their character even further. The second activity involved working on a specific scene from Matilda in their small groups. The students had to direct and act out their scene, and all of the performances were truly amazing, considering the girls only had about 15 minutes to devise their piece!
Overall, the workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, and it was so lovely to see that some of the girls were exchanging email addresses at the end of the workshop with new friends they had made!
Mrs Gooden would like to thank Sydney Dean and Mollie Carrington, both in Year 11, for helping her with the workshop. We would like to thank Mrs Gooden for delivering such a fun session
