Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme – Gold Practice Expedition
During the Easter break, four teams of Gold participants set off for their practice expedition canoeing along the River Thames. They had to endure hail, torrential rain, strong winds, burning sun and a sudden drop in temperature that left frost on the inside and the outside of their tents. Despite all of this they stuck to their routes, sang their way along the river and were not daunted by an interesting hour stuck in the bottom of a lock when the gates failed to open.
Mrs Smart, Invicta’s Duke of Edinburgh co-ordinator, was very impressed with their teamwork and determination especially when faced with a strong headwind on the last day. The students are now looking forwards to the challenges of the River Wye in July.
Thank you, yet again to Mrs Smart and her team for the hard work, time and effort given to supporting the students achieve their goals.
