Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday, Mr Murray Letham visited Invicta to give four separate e-Safety talks to students and staff as part of Safer Internet Day. It was certainly thought provoking.
Sixth Form student Konrad Eke sent us this report:
“Tuesday, 9 February marked Safer Internet Day for not just the country but the whole world. A day, which is designed to promote e-safety and ensure that young people across the planet stay safe, while using the invaluable resource that is the Internet. Invicta chose to promote awareness for e-safety by inviting Mr Murray Letham, an expert on e-safety, into school to give every year group a presentation, teaching vital skills on how to stay safe while online. Through his presentations Murray not only focussed on the positives of the Internet but also opened everyone’s eyes to the dangers that the Internet presents. He also highlighted the sheer amount of digital information we leave behind us without even realizing. The talks were delivered in an interesting and effective manner, which allowed both students and staff to take on board new ways they could keep themselves safe. One of the key aspects promoted throughout the Safer Internet Day was to “Think before you click!” a simple thing which many of us often overlook when using the Internet.”
Thank you to Mr Ehren and Mrs Stafford for organising the day.
