UN Mini Conference Preparation
Students from local primary schools attended a workshop on Wednesday, 18 November 2015 in preparation for the Mini UN Conference that will take place at Invicta on Wednesday, 3 February 2016. Mrs Ricks has sent a full report of the event:
Eighteen Year 6 students from Mereworth Primary School, Offham Primary School and Lunsford Primary School spent Wednesday afternoon at Invicta Grammar School. They were preparing for the first Invicta Mini United Nations Conference which will be held on 3 February 2016. The purpose of the visit was to meet eighteen Year 7 and Year 8 Invicta students, who had been selected to take part in the conference. The students worked together within their delegations, i.e. USA, Australia, France, Brazil, South Africa, Iran, India, China and Russia. They compared their research findings on their specific country, collaborated to discover more facts on the water/sanitation situation and presented key pieces of information. Finally, they had the opportunity to meet and share their knowledge with twelve Invicta 6th Former, who will be chairing the conference in February. They also wrote the UN resolution on the topic of access to clean water and sanitation, which will be debated by the nine delegations during the conference.
