Ryan Figgett represents Great Britain

Last week, we reported that Year 13 student Ryan Figgett had qualified to represent Great Britain in the World Triathlon Grand Finals being held in Chicago.

His family have sent us the following report: “We arrived in Chicago on Saturday and have met with the GB team coaches. Ryan took part in an open water swim warm up session this morning with other members of the team. The swim took place at Ohio Beach on Lake Michigan adjacent to Navy Pier. As you can see from the picture attached the conditions were great and the water was clear and calm. The weather is due to remain the same for the race on Wednesday so good news for all the athletes.”

On Thursday, Mrs Figgett sent the following news: “Ryan completed the race today in Chicago at the ITU World Triathlon Championships. He finished 12th overall in his age group event and got the second fastest time out of the GB team age group athletes. His result means he automatically qualifies to represent Great Britain in next year’s finals in Mexico. We are all very pleased with his performance. He had a great swim being 4th fastest on the day and got a personal best on the run.”

Invicta is delighted with Ryan’s success and staff and students look forward to seeing him back in school to congratulate him and hear about his experiences.
