F1 in Schools Regional Competition Success
Invicta students recently took part in the F1 in Schools Regional Competition, held at Chelsea Football Stadium. Working with students from Wilmington Grammar School, they were known as the Cyclone Racing Team and we are delighted with their success. Cyclone received the award for Team Identity, given to the team with the best image, and were praised for their enthusiasm and organisation. They went on to achieve second place in the competition, which means they will attend the National Finals on 12 - 13 March.
From Invicta, the team members were Leah, Eoin and Astha, all of whom had a fantastic day and are fired up for the next stage of the competition.
A BBC film crew were at the competition which was covered by Breakfast Television Sports presenter Mike Bushell. The group also met the legendary John Surtees, the only living person to win both at Formula 1 and Motorcycle World Champion.
Mrs Derrick sent the following message to the team “This is FANTASTIC news! I am so pleased and proud. Thank you for all your hard work on this. It is a huge accolade and rightly deserved. STEM is so important and this helps to continue and reinforce the superb work of all of you, who have driven STEM at Invicta! Great vision and teamwork”
Thank you to Mrs Woolley for organising the trip and supporting the students.
