Invicta Primary School Literacy Challenge
On Friday, 16 January, nine teams of Year 5 students from different local primary schools visited the Reading Room at Invicta to take part in the third round of the school's literacy challenge. The girls competed against themselves and each other to find synonyms, resolve anagrams, sustain talk and break down words. In a succession of fast paced rounds, the teams notched up points while developing their English skills which they went on to demonstrate in a more extended piece of descriptive writing that aimed to chill and surprise the reader. The girls then broke out of their teams to discuss and share their love of reading and some of their favourite authors. All of the girls who attended represented their schools with pride and demonstrated fantastic collaborative and team work skills in a really enjoyable day of wit, words and wonderful writing.
Well done to The Discovery School for coming first. Marden Primary School were second followed by Loose Primary in third place. We are looking forward to the final on Thursday, 25 June 2015.
Thank you to Ms Walters for delivering the Literacy Challenge.
