Year 5 Familiarisation Workshop - Food Technology
Twenty Year 5 students attended a two hour Food Technology Workshop on Saturday, 10 January with Mrs Billingham, Mrs Moore and Invicta students Amy and Ruth to make decorated biscuits.
The students were paired with someone they did not know and allocated a unit to work at. They followed a recipe to make a biscuit dough and then chilled it in the fridge while they washed up. When chilled, the students rolled out the dough and cut out different shapes using biscuit cutters. While the biscuits were baking Mrs Billingham demonstrated how to roll out the icing and create different designs with a variety of colours. The students really enjoyed this and some very creative designs were made! When the biscuits were baked and had cooled the icing was secured on top using a little water.
During the workshop the students met new friends, just as they will when they start at Invicta! The girls chose their favourite two biscuits and placed them into a presentation bag, secured with ribbon. It was a busy morning but the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
Thank you to Mrs Billingham for organising this fun workshop.
