Young Chamber Business Lunch
We were pleased to welcome 27 members of the local business community, including The Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor Richard Thick, to our seventh business lunch. The theme was Science, Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) and guests from these sectors were well represented. We were delighted to be sponsored by the Kent Construction Focus Group (KCFG) and particularly grateful to KCFG member, Mr Alan Adkins from DMX Consultants, for his informative talk on the construction industry. Students Djamilia, Astha, Abby and Kerry, who are part of the Invicta STEM Club, presented the achievements of STEM students over the past year.
As a result of this lunch, we have several new links with industry including an offer from Cross Rail to host a week summer placement opportunity at London Underground during 2015. This will provide students with an insight into a range of discipline engineering environments such as civil, mechanical and electrical engineering through design and into construction, based around the Stations and Cross Rail programme.
We would like to thank Chamber of Commerce member, Mr Richard Lavender for his continued support of Young Chamber and to Mrs Bennett, Invicta’s Young Chamber coordinator for her hard work in organising this event.
