Lucy and Laura win Try Angle Awards
Try Angle awards were introduced in 1994 in Kent to raise the profile of young people in the community who really try, often with little recognition, to do their best. Every year, all schools in Kent are invited to nominate students who they feel deserve recognition for their selfless devotion to their work within the school or community. It was with great pride therefore that Invicta Grammar School nominated two students in Year 11 who both gained an award. Lucy Christmas gained the award in the Arts category and Lucy Hooker in the Carer category. These awards were fully justified as both girls have worked through considerable personal issues whilst still devoting time to performing in public or devoting time to others. The awards ceremony took place at the Mac Centre in Tonbridge in front of an audience that included three mayors. Parents and family of both students were pleased and moved to see their daughters receive the prestigious award. Lucy Christmas, as a warm up to taking the lead role in the schools production of We Will Rock You, also performed a solo song to the audience at the Try Angle awards. Invicta is justifiably very proud of both girls.
