Invicta’s Interact Club receives charter from the Mayor of Maidstone
Invicta’s Interact Club hosted a meeting of the Maidstone Riverside Rotary on Thursday 1 May 2104. The meeting included distinguished guests such as the Mayor of Maidstone and other dignitaries, At this meeting, Invicta Interact Club was granted a charter and received a badge of office and certificate on behalf of the school.
The evening, which was sponsored by Rotary, began with wine, soft drinks and a buffet meal. Our guests, Rotary and Interact Club members were able to use this time to network. Rotary members were extremely complimentary about the way the students had worked throughout the last year and the professional manner that they had adopted.
Mrs Derrick, Head Teacher, welcomed the Mayor and guests and spoke about the ethos of the school. Interact President, Alice Musgrove, gave a very articulate insight into the events held by the group along with a brief history of the group from its founding two years ago under the direction of Mrs Catherine Pearson. She concluded her speech by thanking her team for their hard work. Ellie Monks-Walker and Georgia Phipps took to the floor to discuss the £1000 raised by Interact for their local charity Trinity Foyer in Maidstone this year. This was followed by the more formal part of the preceding when members were presented with Rotary pins and both the present President, Alice, and the incoming President, Sophie Aujard were given their charter, badge and a cheque towards their fundraising. It was an interesting and enjoyable evening and the start of what we hope is a long relationship under the Rotary banner.
