‘A Murmuration’ exhibition - University College London
Mrs Rodgers sent this report:
What does it mean to ‘be here’ and ‘not be there’ and how can this be expressed through image making? Students from Invicta Grammar School who have moved to England from another country have been exploring how their own and their families’ stories can be told through visual representations of what it means ‘to be here’ and ‘not be there’.
The photographic compositions comprise of images which have had sections cut away to represent absence and the idea of ‘not being there’, juxtaposed with physical objects associated with ‘being here’ in the UK. The work will now go on display as part of the ‘A Murmuration’ exhibition in conjunction with UCL and the Candid Arts Trust.
Year 10 and 12 students had the pleasure of visiting this exhibition when it ran between 19-22 May and very much enjoyed learning traditional weaving techniques with Kurdish refugee artist, Shorsh Saleh.
