Eurovicta 2022
Mrs Puerto Garcia sent this report:
Last week has seen the return of our beloved singing competition EUROVICTA! And what a fantastic show it was!
All Year 7 form groups were given a real pop/rap song in French/Spanish and were tasked with learning the lyrics off by heart, rehearsing, singing, creating a choreography, translating the lyrics and designing a PowerPoint presentation to support their performance. And of course, to consider the props and outfits for their song. We launched the competition in November, giving Year 7 roughly two months to be ready to compete and they have not disappointed us. Despite having to revise for their mock exams, our Year 7 students have put in so much effort to rise to the challenge and we have been amazed by the result. Along the way, they have developed their leadership skills and teamwork, getting to know each other better and building upon their existing skills and strengths.
On Wednesday, 2 February it was such a pleasure to present the competition and watch their performances. There was a real party atmosphere yet we could feel the competitive spirit, with each form trying to outdo the others! Our competition was an opportunity to showcase the diversity of the French and Spanish musical worlds and travel from one country to another while discovering new artists.
We were delighted to have been able to hold this competition and it was lovely to see our Year 7 students enjoy themselves and giving their best performance.
Our Sixth Form students had the difficult task of judging and deciding on the winning performances. We would like to thank all of them for taking part and supporting us to make this competition possible, although it did not take a lot of convincing as they could fondly remember their own performances back when they were in Year 7 themselves.
I would like to congratulate 7T once again for their brilliant performance of Ricky Martin’s Copa de vida. Spanish truly deserves the overall win this year! Many thanks to all the staff involved in ensuring that this major MFL event ran smoothly. Our MFL staff are already busy looking for songs for next year’s competition and we cannot wait for Eurovicta 2023!

As a viewer of Eurovision myself, I was very excited for Eurovicta, and like the other forms, we had been practising thoroughly for weeks, getting ready for the big day. It had finally come!
The atmosphere in the changing room was such a thrilling experience and the perfect way to get us excited for the event. With all of our glitter, face paint and crazy costumes, we quickly ran through the dance routine to make sure that we were ready, and then hurried off to the hall to enjoy the show.
The show started with a bang; lights, smoke and music, it was like I was at the big international competition! Then my form was called to the stage, and I could feel my heart beating quickly. We took our positions on the stage and I never wanted to leave; the music seemed to carry us and it was a such a lively experience. I loved performing with my friends on something we had worked so hard on, and watching the other forms performances was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Eurovicta was amazing and something my form and I will remember for the rest of our Invicta journey!
