Write for Rights - Amnesty International Campaign
At Invicta, we want to support communities and are committed to fairness and justice for all. To help achieve this, we work very closely with Amnesty International which allows us to stay familiar with the different events carried out by the charity in our region and globally. It was with this in mind that we decide to join their Write for Rights campaign earlier this year.
The campaign involved students choosing a campaigner they believe in and writing a letter to them supporting the challenges they face. Two of our International prefects, Amy and VJ in Year 13, recently met with the Amnesty International Representative for Kent, Graham Minter, to hand over all the solidarity cards and appeal letters we wrote before Christmas.
We sent over 700 cards and letters which is unprecedented for the Kent county. These cards are now on their way to the courageous individuals, in ten different countries around the world, who have stood for justice and caught our attention for their bravery.
Thanks to the RAG events, we were also able to make a donation of £200 to the charity. Well done and remember, you can too make a difference!
Amy and VJ run the Amnesty International club at Invicta every Monday lunchtime in M21 and they would be delighted to welcome you too!
