Lego House Building Competition
Mr Regan sent this report:
On Tuesday, 4 February, the school took part in a Lego House building competition, a deceptively challenging task. This was a reward for 7S and 30 students from Year 8 for their excellent number of achievement points so far this year. The students’ first challenge was to try to visualise the number of bricks used in an architect’s plans and elevations of a Lego house, this led to calculating the cost of the house from a price list. The students’ main challenge was to create their own Lego house; the house had to meet minimum criteria of having a roof, one door, two windows and within a budget of £200. Their final creation also had to be backed up by accurate plans and elevations designed so that anybody could build the house from the drawings. Congratulations to Amélie, Poppy and Amira in 8N who won the challenge!
