Year 5 Familiarisation Workshop - Maths
Miss Derrick sent this report:
On Saturday, 5 October, thirty-six Year 5 students attended the Maths Workshop where students participated in a number of challenges. All students were extremely animated and particularly enjoyed the Egg Tangrams challenge which is an old Chinese puzzle consisting of seven shapes that are put together to form different birds. Particular congratulations goes to Caitlin Gosden and Isla Williamson who also solved all of the brainteasers and the logical reasoning challenge; ‘If you were to put a 5p coin into an empty bottle and then insert a cork into the neck, how could you remove the coin without taking out the cork or breaking the bottle?’. It was a delightful morning and a pleasure to deliver the workshop to such keen and enthusiastic students. Miss Derrick would also like to thank Lolly Ward and Jessica Beesley in 9A who were fantastic helpers throughout the morning
