V&A Museum Trip
Swinging London was all around at the Mary Quant exhibition at the V&A on Friday, 26 April. A group of Fashion and Textiles students were able to immerse themselves in the swinging 60s when the world of fashion was centred on London and Carnaby Street in particular. It was fascinating to see the influence of Mary Quant on global fashion, how she created a style for the young and created cutting edge fashion that was available to all. Her introduction of the mini skirt, the creation of fashion tights, PVC rainwear and her iconic make up with the black and white Daisy logo were all showcased and her influence and iconic style can still be seen today. Mary Quant and the Ginger group pioneered new methods of manufacture and young people across the world wanted the Mary Quant London Look. All the students were very inspired by the exhibition and the Dogs tooth check 1960s V&A fabric bags were a great hit!
