Year 5 and 6 Business Familiarisation Workshop
On Saturday, 16 March 2019, 16 eager Year 5 students attended a Business Workshop. The girls (and their parents!) were definitely intrigued by the title: 'The Egg Business Challenge'. The girls were split into five separate teams, with each team owning their own 'egg-holder' business. We had some very interesting, egg-themed business names! Each team was given £10 to kick-start their business, which they could use to buy resources to make their egg-holders with (such as card, scissors and sellotape). Once their egg-holder was made, the teams then had to visit the 'shop' to sell their egg-holder to me! Each egg-holder had to hold the egg for at least 15 seconds, and had to show some improvement on the previous design. Throughout the workshop, the price of the resources went up and down, depending on the level of demand. The girls quickly learnt that, when prices were low, it made sense to stock up on their resources! After a tense selling period, the creme egg prize was awarded to the top two teams who had made the most profit, with the winning team making just under £100 (not bad for two hours' worth of work!). Thank you to Skyy Salter (8V) and Mia Gillis-Coates (7I) for assisting with the workshop.
