Year 5 Biology Workshop
On Tuesday, 8 May 2018 we had so much fun with the Year 5 students learning about our muscles and how they work. Students entered the room and began jogging on the spot to get them thinking about what their bodies are doing. They enjoyed blowing into limewater that turned cloudy when they produced Carbon Dioxide and were amazed when they produced water vapour on cold mirrors! After students role played how Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide travelled from the lungs to our body with tennis balls and ping pong balls and the students were fascinated by respiring yeast! We had a competition to see whose yeast respired the most, judged by the balloon that was blown up the most by the yeast producing the most Carbon Dioxide! The finale was a HUGE fire ball demonstrating the release of energy that is released when sugar and Oxygen react! Well Done Year 5!
