Kent Young Chef Award
Millie in 10V was a finalist at the Kent Young Chef Award on Wednesday, 22 November 2017 at East Kent College in Broadstairs.
When Millie arrived, she was given a personalised chefs jacket and shown through to the professional kitchen. Millie had to make two portions of her main and two of her dessert within two hours. She was required to use local Kentish seasonal ingredients.
Millie cooked off against 4 senior category finalists. For her main course, she made venison with sweet and sour parsnips, curly kale and blackberry jus. For her dessert, she made sticky toffee apple pudding. One of the judges was Michelin-starred Graham Garret who owns The Westhouse in Biddenden, Kent. He said Millie cooked the venison perfectly and her presentation was excellent. Millie was awarded a framed certificate, a chef’s knife and a mandolin for slicing vegetables. Millie did so well under pressure and we are very proud of her for representing Invicta. Well done Millie!
