A2 Applied Business Students visit Coutts Bank
On Wednesday, 23 September, our A2 Applied Business class went to London to visit Coutts Bank. The aims of the day were to gain knowledge, interview employees for our coursework and receive a wonderful insight into the work of investment banking. Coutts is a world renowned bank and they allowed us to spend the morning in their head office. The first part of the day was an interactive presentation from current employees, who explained the Coutts Graduate Programme to us. They were extremely kind and informative, detailing the journey they had experienced to get a job in such a prestigious business. Their presentation included information about open days, internships and the graduate programme. This talk was very helpful because we gained first-hand knowledge on the career process at Coutts from people who had actually gone through it and succeeded.
After this discussion, we had a presentation from Alan Marshall, who talked about leadership in a large establishment, financial and non-financial benefits of working at Coutts. We also had the opportunity to ask questions relating to his own role. We learnt a lot from the visit as it gave us relevant information for our own future, as well as helpful material and evidence that will be used in our coursework task. After the talk, Coutts gave us a delicious lunch and we had time to roam around Covent Garden which was very enjoyable and relaxing end to the day. Thank you to Miss Gater who organised the visit.
